Day 5 - Wednesday: Weather slows production |
Today, the Build Crew decides that we can split the group up and take about 20 people to Guanabacoa to begin construction on our final site. The rest of the group are to return to Parque Santa Amalia and complete the construction at the third park. |

In Guanabacoa, the volunteers unpack, assemble and construct the last set of equipment. The weather was once again sunny and hot but the threat of another rainstorm again was imminent because of the high level of humidity. Construction went well again until just after lunch. Once again, the rain halted production and since we were already ahead of schedule, the volunteers returned to the hotel. |

Meanwhile at Parque Santa Amalia, the volunteers continued to work on the equipment, hoping that the rain would stay away until it was finished. The ground was extremely muddy from the recent rainfall and we were all amused by the huge clods of mud that stuck to our shoes and refused to be shaken off! |

As in Guanabacoa, the rain came in the early afternoon and we sheltered under the canopy, waiting for it to pass. After about 45 minutes, the rain had lessened somewhat and we went back to work for a short while. At about 4pm, we packed away the tools and we returned to the hotel. The 3rd site was about 90% complete. |
