Our last full day in Havana was spent in various ways. Some volunteers helped the Build Crew with some minor repairs to equipment in parks that we previously replaced. Others relaxed at the hotel and others explored Havana.

We all met up in the hotel at 6pm so that we could celebrate our week together at a special dinner. The celebration dinner was held at El Palenque, which was a large outdoor restaurant. Together with Cuban workers and city officials, the volunteers were thanked once again for their incredible accomplishment.

Three of our volunteers had each raised over $2,500 with their fundraising efforts and were awarded with a special thank-you and a certificate after dinner. Jennifer Del Sole ($3,335 total raised) and Christine Rahilly ($3,185 total raised), both received our Special Achievement for Fundraising award, along with up to $300 reimbursement each for their domestic air travel to Miami. Our Top Fundraiser, Daryl DeLuca amazed us by raising over $4,000 to date and he also received an award, a reimbursement check for domestic travel and a gift certificate from Amazon.com.

It was Friday night in Havana and we were all exhausted and exhilarated with the work we had done. We all enjoyed our final evening in Havana but we were sad to know that we would be returning home the next day.
