| MISSION STATEMENT |
It's Just The Kids, Inc. is a licensed, nonprofit organization, dedicated to the needs of children. The goal of the program is to help children by providing playground equipment in a safe environment where they can play close to home; and to enhance the emotional, psychological and physical quality of the children's lives; and to extend the friendship of the American people by engaging families in other countries in a joint effort to assemble and erect the playground equipment. |

| WHY PLAYGROUNDS? |
The children of Cuba are just like children in other countries of the world. They are young and their desires may be simple, but these children’s needs are important. Playgrounds provide a safe and fun place for these children so that their formative years will be memorable. We have identified hundreds of potential sites in neighborhoods throughout Cuba where ten’s of thousands of young children between the ages of 2 and 12 years old live and play in unsafe surroundings
Below are some photographs of 3 playgrounds that were replaced in May, 2003. In Spetember 2005, we installed an additional 4 playground sites. Please visit our Previous Projects page for more information, news articles, photos, movies and volunteer testimonials.

| OUR COMMUNITY BUILD PROJECTS IN CUBA |
It’s Just The Kids, Inc. achieves its goal through volunteer efforts and monetary contributions from American entities including foundations, trusts, corporations, and the American people. The program utilizes monetary contributions to purchase and ship playground equipment to some of the most needy neighborhoods in Cuba. Once the equipment arrives, families of Americans and Cubans, parents and children, join together to assemble and erect the equipment. The program involves 5 steps:
|
| 1. |
Identify neighborhoods in Cuba that lack play areas and playground equipment and contain a high concentration of children between the ages of 2 to 9
|
| 2. |
Identify vacant areas or lots in these neighborhoods; take dimensions of the site area; and then design a playground that’s suitable for the quantity and ages of the children
|
| 3. |
Raise funds for the cost of manufacturing and shipping the playground equipment to Cuba
|
| 4. |
Manufacture and ship the playground equipment to Cuba
|
| 5. |
Engage American families, parents and children, and Cuban families from the neighborhood, to join together, in an extension of friendship, to assemble and erect this playground equipment. |
